Tarn; a small mountain lake. Middle English (originally northern English dialect): from Old Norse tjǫrn
The Architectural Drawing
Blessed by the hand of B.B. King as a baby boy, it was inevitable the life of Thomas Daniel Staples (vocals) would intertwine with all that holds the meaning of rock, blues and roots music. A journey which found its origins in Leeds (UK), with the Glacial Lake of Malham Tarn as a backdrop, and would continue on Dutch soil.
All stories, thoughts and contemplations documented along the way in lyrics, poems and melodies.
The Foundation
Growing up in the vibrant music era of the late 70s and early 80s, Joris Kühne (bass guitar) started off with classical guitar, which remained a prominent instrument for his musical career ahead. However, the bass guitar also drew his attention and quickly he was involved in the local band scene. Inspired by a wide range of bass players, Joris developed his own fingerprint, where melody and groove melt into one.
The Framework
From the first moment Chris held drumsticks he became obsessed with the instrument and all its different approaches. From heavy rock to jazz, fusion and contemporary pop; he soaked it up and made it his own. Energy, pocket and feel came very natural and to this day remain a trademark for his playing.
The Interior
Discovering the electric guitar at the age of 13, Robert Swijgman immediately knew after playing his first chord on an old Gibson at a friend's house, this was his life’s calling. Shortly after, he had an electric guitar of his own and within a couple of months the first band experiences were a fact. Inspired by guitarists from all decades, he became not only interested in the guitar but also songwriting and audio recording.
The Tarn House Renegades
All different musical experiences and backgrounds collided into one and finally, 30 years after B.B.’s blessings, the Tarn House was built with a raw, renegade vision.
Hence The Tarn House Renegades, a rock ’n roll force to reckon with.
